Welcome
How Lovat fits together, and where to start.
Lovat is a scouting system for FRC teams. Scouters record each match on their phones, and the rest of the team turns those reports into strategy: team stats, match predictions, picklists and charts, built on data from every team that scouts with Lovat.
The two apps
Section titled “The two apps”Lovat Collection is the app your scouters use during matches. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. Scouters don’t need accounts: a scouting lead enrolls each phone into the team once, and scouters pick their name from a list.
Lovat Dashboard is where data uploaded by scouters comes into use. Scouting leads register the team, manage scouters and shifts, and everyone on the team views analytics and builds picklists. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, on Mac, Windows and Linux, and in the browser on tablets and computers. See Which app to use for how the versions differ.
How data moves at an event
Section titled “How data moves at an event”- A scouter records a match in Collection and taps Submit. The report is saved on the phone.
- If the phone has a connection, the report uploads on its own. If it doesn’t, the scouter hands it to any teammate’s Lovat app by QR code or Bluetooth.
- Each Lovat app keeps a copy of your team’s data and works offline. Teammates’ apps sync with each other nearby, and with the cloud whenever there’s a connection.
Nothing is lost if the venue Wi-Fi goes down: every report stays on the phone that recorded it until the cloud has it.
Where to start
Section titled “Where to start”- Scouting leads: register your team, then add scouters and shifts and enroll your scouting phones.
- Scouters: set up your phone and learn how to scout a match.
- Everyone else on the team: sign in and join your team, then learn how to get around.
