Scouters and shifts

Keep your scouter list tidy and assign scouters to stations with shifts.

Scouters are the people who record matches in Lovat Collection. They don’t have accounts: each scouter is a name on your team’s list, and they pick it on their phone. Everything here is on the Scouting page.

The Scouters tab lists everyone on your team with how many Reports they’ve submitted, how many matches they were Assigned, and how many they Missed. Scouting leads can select a scouter to see their reports at This event or across All events.

Scouters usually add themselves the first time they open Collection. Scouting leads can also:

  • Add scouter to add a name before an event.
  • Rename a scouter, for example to fix a typo or a duplicate.
  • Archive someone who isn’t scouting this season. Archived scouters disappear from Collection’s list, but their reports stay. Turn on Show archived to see them and Unarchive them.
  • Delete a scouter. Their reports stay. If they might scout again, archive them instead.

Shifts tell each scouter which robot to watch in which matches. With shifts set, Collection picks each scouter’s next match and robot for them, so nobody has to type a match number.

To add a shift, a scouting lead selects Add shift and chooses:

  1. The First match and Last match of the shift (qualification matches).
  2. A scouter for each station: Red 1, Red 2, Red 3, Blue 1, Blue 2 and Blue 3.

Select Save shift. A new shift starts right after the previous one, ten matches long, so building a day’s schedule is mostly picking names. Edit or delete a shift with the icons on its row.

Shifts that run past the last qualification match carry on into the playoffs.

On the match selector, scouters see Scouting and their team, and a wheel of their assigned matches. When you change shifts, their phones update the next time they sync, and the color at the top of their screen changes. Ask your scouters to compare colors: if they match, everyone has the latest schedule.

A scouter can always switch to Enter details manually if they’re covering for someone.

Have new scouters turn on Training mode in Collection’s settings. Their reports are marked as practice and stay out of your team’s analysis, so they can practice on real matches without affecting your numbers.
