Lovat Collection
Scout a match
Everything you need to scout a match in Lovat Collection, from picking the match to the post-match questions.
Pick the match
Section titled “Pick the match”The home screen is the match selector. The status pill at the top shows whether the phone is Connected, working from data Updated a while ago, or Unavailable because it hasn’t synced yet. Tap it to reconnect and retry anything waiting to upload. History is on the left and Settings on the right.
Automatic (scouter schedule)
Section titled “Automatic (scouter schedule)”If your scouting lead has assigned you shifts, the screen shows Scouting and the team, and a wheel of your matches, like Qualifier 12 or Playoff 3. The wheel starts on your next match. Scroll it to pick a different one. The team and alliance come from the station you’re assigned.
The color at the top of the screen comes from the schedule. If your color matches the scouters next to you, you all have the same version of the schedule. It changes when your lead edits shifts.
If you see No matches found, you haven’t been assigned a schedule yet. Tap Enter details manually.
Manual
Section titled “Manual”Enter the Match number, choose Qualifier or Playoff, enter the Team number, and choose Red or Blue. Collection remembers the alliance for your next match. Tap Use scouter schedule to go back to automatic.
When everything is set, tap Scout this match. It turns on once the match, your name and the schedule are ready.
The game screen
Section titled “The game screen”The game screen is where all match scouting takes place. At the top, you can see the team you’re scouting, the current stage (Pre-Match, Auto or Teleop) and the match timer.
Before the match begins, select the robot’s starting position. Choose the location that best matches where the robot is placed on the field. Starting positions include each trench, each bump, and the hub.
As soon as the match begins, tap the play button to synchronize the app’s timer with the field timer. It turns on once you’ve picked a starting position.

The interface is contextual. Only actions the robot can take at the current stage of the match are shown, so you can stay focused on the field rather than the screen. Every tap gives a small vibration, so you can feel that it registered without looking.
During auto, actions are tracked more precisely. Stay focused during the first 20 seconds of the match.
Each button represents a specific action performed by the robot.
- If the robot intakes from the outpost or outtakes fuel to the corral, tap the yellow flag. Select the yellow icon to intake and the green icon to outtake, then close the card.
- If the robot intakes from the depot, tap the yellow intake icon.
- If the robot climbs during auto, tap the purple rectangle. It disappears once tapped.

If the robot crosses into the neutral zone, tap the purple arrow where it crossed: one of the two trenches or the two bumps. The field switches to the neutral zone, and crossing back switches it again.
In the neutral zone, use the yellow intake icon when the robot intakes fuel, and tap the blue bomb if the robot tries to scatter fuel. The bomb disappears once tapped.

Shooting fuel uses a drag instead of repeated taps. Hold the green hexagon and drag outward while the robot is shooting. There are two modes, which you can switch in Settings:
- Rate (default): holding counts up, and dragging farther counts faster. Try to match the speed of the count to the rate the robot scores. Turn back toward the hexagon to count down.
- Count: the distance from the hexagon sets how many fuel are scored. Move closer if too many are counted.
While you hold, Lovat also tracks how long you’re pressing. Try to start pressing when the robot starts shooting and release when it stops. A check mark flashes when the amount is recorded.
Feeding works the same way: drag outward from the feeding panel instead of the hexagon.
Teleop
Section titled “Teleop”When teleop begins, the screen changes on its own, with a short vibration.
Scoring and feeding work the same as in auto. Intake is only recorded at the outpost, through the yellow flag.
Defense is tracked by how long it lasts rather than by taps:
- Hold the shield while the robot is actively playing defense by contacting or pinning an opposing robot.
- Hold the camping button when the robot is intentionally blocking access to a field element such as a trench or ramp.
The climb button comes back for the last 30 seconds of the match. Tap it if the robot attempts or completes a climb.

If you make a mistake at any time, tap undo in the top left. It removes the last action.
Ending the match
Section titled “Ending the match”When the match is over, tap the stop button and choose End match. To start over, choose Restart match. That clears everything you recorded but keeps the match and starting position.
Post-match questions
Section titled “Post-match questions”After the match ends, you’ll answer several questions about the robot’s performance. Some only appear when they apply, based on what you recorded.
Only select options based on what happened in this match. Don’t include abilities or actions you saw in earlier matches. These questions describe parts of the robot’s performance that buttons can’t capture.

Section titled “Robot Roles”Select every role the robot played for a significant part of the match.
- Cycling: The robot cycles game pieces between pickup and scoring locations.

- Great: The driver is well-practiced and makes very few mistakes.
- Average: The driver operates the robot competently, but nothing stood out.
- Below average: Moves inefficiently and makes some mistakes.
- Poor: Struggles to keep the robot under control or makes frequent mistakes.
Scores While Moving
Section titled “Scores While Moving”Appears if you recorded scoring or feeding. Choose Yes if the robot scores while moving.
Robot broke
Section titled “Robot broke”Check this box if the robot mechanically broke during the match, then describe how it broke.
Notes are optional. Use them only for information that isn’t already reflected in the match data.
Good notes are specific, short, and readable. For example:
- “Long shooting range from neutral zone”
- “Lost comms with ~20s left”
- “Avoided defense well near trench”
Useful things to include:
- Mechanical, electrical, or software issues
- Penalties caused by the robot (if you’re certain)
- Human player performance
- Strategy that isn’t captured elsewhere
- How the robot worked with its alliance partners
Submit
Section titled “Submit”Tap Submit to save the report. If anything required is missing, Collection lists the questions under Answer these to submit. To throw the match away instead, tap Discard match.
After submitting, Collection uploads the report on its own whenever the phone has a connection. If it can’t, you can hand it to a teammate right there. See Send your reports.
Tap Done to go back to the match selector for your next match. You don’t need to wait for the upload.
