    Sign in and join your team

    Sign in with an email code, join your team with its join code, and bring your account over from the old Lovat.

    This guide is for Lovat Dashboard. Scouters using Lovat Collection don’t sign in; see Set up a scouting phone instead.

    Sign in

    Section titled “Sign in”
    1. Open Lovat Dashboard and enter your email address.
    2. Select Email me a code. Lovat sends a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes.
    3. Enter the code and select Sign in.

    If the code doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder, then select Send a new code. Typed the wrong address? Select Use another email.

    Lovat doesn’t use passwords. Every sign-in uses a fresh code. On the web you may also see Continue with Google and Continue with Apple.

    First-time setup

    The first time you sign in, Lovat asks a few questions:

    1. Your name. This is what your teammates see. Your name shows to your own team only.
    2. Your team. Enter your FRC team number. If your team is already on Lovat, you join it with a join code (below). If it isn’t, you can register it. You can also select I’m not on a team and browse public data on your own.
    3. Your event. Pick the event you’re following. Your team’s events are listed first, and one is marked Suggested. Choose Not at an event if you’re just looking around.

    On the web, a last step offers the Lovat apps. They work offline at events, so it’s worth installing one before you need it. You can select Skip for now.

    Join your team

    Teams join with a join code, not an invitation.

    1. Ask a scouting lead for your team’s join code. Leads find it under Settings → Team.
    2. Enter your team number, then the join code, and select Join team.

    You join as an analyst. A scouting lead can make you a lead later. See Members and roles.

    If nobody on the team has the code, select Lost the code? Email it to the team. Lovat sends the code to the team’s contact email address, which usually goes to a mentor or a shared team inbox.

    Coming from the old Lovat

    Lovat matches your old account by email address. When you sign in with the email you used before:

    • Your old username carries over if you haven’t set a name yet, along with your saved sources.
    • If your old email address was verified, you join your old team right away, with the same role. You’ll see You’re on team ….
    • If it wasn’t verified, you’ll see Waiting for team …. A scouting lead on that team approves the request under Settings → Team → Waiting for approval. You can also join right away with the team’s join code instead.

    Phones

    Section titled “Phones”

    On an iPhone or Android phone, use the Lovat Dashboard app. Phone browsers show a page with links to the App Store and Google Play, and a link to open the page you were on in the app. On a tablet or a computer, the full Dashboard works in the browser.
